How We Book Cheap Short-Haul Flights
How we judge whether a cheap flight is really cheap once airport transfers, timing and baggage are included.
A £43 return flight can be an excellent deal, but the airfare is only one part of the real travel cost. Our Paris trip is a good example: we flew to Beauvais, so the airport transfer had to be counted separately.
We compare the whole journey
Before treating a fare as cheap, we look at the departure airport, arrival airport, transfer cost, flight times and whether the schedule forces an extra hotel night.
We book when the total works
Our cheapest trips usually came from booking early enough to get a low fare while still keeping accommodation and transfer prices under control.
Low-cost airports can still be worth it
Secondary airports are not automatically bad. They simply need to be priced honestly. If the transfer still keeps the total trip cost low, the route can make sense.
Our rule
We compare total trip cost, not the number shown in the flight-search result.
