Food we can carry from Chennai
Keep everything commercially sealed, labelled and in modest personal-use quantities. Thailand’s FDA currently limits all personal-use food together to 10 kg or litres, with lower category limits for some items.
- MTR or similar vegetarian poha, upma and pongal cups
- Sealed ready-to-eat dal, chana masala and vegetable curry pouches
- Instant noodles or pasta with clearly labelled vegetarian seasoning
- Khakhra, murukku, roasted chana, makhana, biscuits and mixed nuts
- Quick oats, tea bags, dry coffee mix and sugar sachets
- Small sealed spice packets rather than loose homemade powders
Buy water, bread, milk, curd, tofu, fruit and vegetables locally. Avoid fresh produce and unlabelled homemade food unless current Thai import rules clearly permit it; declare food when required.
Six-day Pattaya and Bangkok itinerary
Day 1 · Chennai to Pattaya
Take the booked early-morning IndiGo flight to Bangkok Suvarnabhumi. After immigration, go to Level 1, Gate 8 for the Roong Reuang airport coach. The operator currently lists the airport–Pattaya service at 135 THB per seat, around two hours; verify the December timetable before departure. This service is commonly identified as route 389. Check into Golden Sea Pattaya, prepare a simple meal and walk along Central Pattaya Beach for sea views. Use the dark-blue Beach Road/Second Road songthaew loop and confirm the fare before boarding.
Day 2 · Pattaya viewpoints and coast
Use a songthaew toward South Pattaya, then walk to Pratumnak Hill and the Pattaya City Sign viewpoint. Continue to the coast around Phra Tamnak before returning to Central Pattaya. Songthaews do not operate like numbered city buses, so show the destination and confirm whether the vehicle is following the shared route or being treated as a private hire.
Day 3 · Pattaya to Bangkok
Travel to North Pattaya Bus Terminal and take the public coach to Ekkamai Eastern Bus Terminal. Verify the live departure and fare at the operator counter. From Ekkamai BTS (E7), take the Sukhumvit Line toward Khu Khot, change or exit around Siam/Ratchathewi as needed, and walk to The Residence Ratchathewi. For an inexpensive evening river view, take BTS to Saphan Taksin (S6), walk to Sathorn Pier and use a public Chao Phraya boat rather than a tourist cruise.
Day 4 · Historic Bangkok
Use BTS/MRT connections to Sanam Chai MRT (BL31) for the old-city area, then walk around Pak Khlong Talat, Sanam Luang and the Grand Palace exterior. Paid temple entry is optional and not included in the strict budget. Bus S1 links Suvarnabhumi Airport and Sanam Luang and is a useful airport/old-city alternative, but it is not required for this route.
Day 5 · Bangkok views and markets
Take BTS to Siam (CEN) for the connected shopping walkways, then walk or use a short local bus toward Pratunam. Continue to Lumpini Park by BTS/MRT for a free evening skyline view. Use the official BTS/MRT journey planners or the ViaBus app on the day because Bangkok bus routes and stop patterns can change.
Day 6 · Bangkok to Chennai
Check out after breakfast. Reach Phaya Thai Airport Rail Link (A8) and take the City Line to Suvarnabhumi (A1). The official government guide lists a journey under 30 minutes and fares up to 45 THB. Arrive at least three hours before the booked IndiGo return flight.

eSIM and forex choices
eSIM: compare the regional Airalo Asia plan below with a Thailand-only package after checking data allowance, hotspot support and validity. Install it before leaving Chennai but activate it only according to the provider’s instructions.
Forex: compare Niyo Global, ixigo AU and an existing bank forex card for markup, ATM fees and eligibility. Thailand ATMs commonly apply a local operator fee, so carry some THB and avoid repeated small withdrawals. Always choose THB—not INR—if a terminal offers dynamic currency conversion.
Important checks before departure
- Use the exact timings and baggage allowance shown on the booked IndiGo tickets; do not rely on a draft flight number.
- Ask both hotels to reconfirm the exact kitchenette equipment available in the booked room category.
- Recheck coach, BTS, MRT, boat and Airport Rail Link fares shortly before 15 December.
- Review Thailand’s current entry, visa, customs and food rules for your passports.
Compare a Bangkok airport pickup
Public transport remains the lowest-cost choice. A pre-booked private transfer may be useful for a family, late arrival or heavy luggage.
